STR8 Sk8 Series at the John Rose Oval in Roseville Minnesota.

Every Wednesday night, from the end of May till the end of August, there is a weekly race series at the famous Minnesota John Rose Oval. North America's largest refrigerated outdoor ice surface. In the summer it doubles as the best 400 meter brushed cement, inline skating surface. There has been Inline racing at the oval for the last 15 years, averaging over 50 skaters every Wednesday night of racing. This thirteen week series has been one of the longest running outdoor Inline Racing series in the country. One of the things that makes this series unique, is that it was designed to help promote and bring new skaters to the sport of Inline Racing by using the format of setting categories by ability and not by age. Each season skaters will do a time trial, placing them in a category with skaters of similar ability. Giving everyone a fairer chance to be competitive within the category. This will lessen the intimidation factor of competing against skaters of greater ability, just because they are the same age group. Giving new skaters a chance to feel like they can have fun and have some level of success. Which means that they will stay in the sport longer and help grow the number of participants at all events.

Each Wednesday night of racing everyone gets to skate in two races, competing for points totaled at the end of the season. There is even a category for kids 12 and under and they get prizes every week along with the season point totals. It's a great chance to work on skating skills and pack awareness along with getting to watch and learn from other skaters.

If you are traveling to Minnesota for a weekend road race, why not come a few days early and get the chance to experience one of the best 400 meter oval Inline Racing events along with the great road races here in Minnesota.
